Channing was born premature with a severe spinal condition. She weighed just 4 pounds, 12 ounces. When Channing was 6 months old, she underwent corrective spinal surgery in Oklahoma City. Without a successful surgery, Channing could be paralyzed.

After surgery, Channing’s mother, Tiffany said she and her other four children were sleeping in Channing’s hospital room in a chair and on blankets on the floor. Although determined to stay by Channing’s side, Tiffany quickly became torn between staying with Channing and the care of her other children also. “I wanted to be there with Channing, but it was so difficult to find babysitters to help us and my husband was either taking off of work or taking the children with him to work,” the Yukon, Oklahoma, mom said.

“As soon as the nurse told me about Ronald McDonald House Charities Oklahoma City, an overwhelming burden lifted. We loved the meals they prepared, and the kids really enjoyed the Thunder playroom,” Tiffany said.

Channing has made a full recovery. “She is now able to move just like any other child, and her scar has healed beautifully.”
