Providing a ‘home away from home’ for families with hospitalized children
The Ronald McDonald House at 1301 NE 14th opened its doors in 1984 to benefit seriously ill or injured children. The House, located just minutes away from The Children’s Hospital at the OU Medical Center, also serves families of children receiving vital medical treatment at other area hospitals including INTEGRIS Health, Mercy Hospital and the Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany.
Originally, built with 10 bedrooms and community bathrooms, the House has grown to 14 bedrooms with private bathrooms. Two of the rooms are one bedroom suites with kitchenettes allowing us to serve families of immune-suppressed children who may have had organ or bone marrow transplants.
The spacious grounds include a large fenced-in play area for siblings and courtyards for reflection and relaxation.
